Materials and Instructions

There’s nothing out of this world to print these birthday gift tags, but I just wanted to give you the best tips.

Materials:

  • Printer (needs to print in color)
  • Scissors
  • Punch hole
  • Twine
  • Small wrapped present (my favorite)
  • If you want to add foil (end of this article), you need foil sheets, a laminator, and a laser printer.

Instructions

Step 1: Save the PDF file to your computer and send it to your printer. When printing, I like using the best quality.

Step 2: Cut around each gift tag and make the opening with the punch hole.

Step 3: Use twine to attach to your present. You can also use tape.

If you have a cutting machine, you can also cut these birthday gift tags with your device.

There’s a little problem, though.

The download files are in a PDF format, and you can’t upload it to Design Space on its own. So if you want to use your Cricut, download the PDF and go to this page and convert the file to PNG.

Then upload as Print then Cut. Read my Print then Cut tutorial.

Don’t know what a Cricut is? Learn all about it.

Colorful Birthday Gift Tags

This birthday gift tag set is full of vibrant and beautiful colors. It’s simple but also elegant and full of life.

Although this set is meant to be in bright colors, I have also included a black and white option in case you don’t have a printer that prints in color, or if you want to add foil effects to your tags.

These are the phrases you’ll find in these gift tags:

  • Happy Birthday
  • From/To (different styles and designs)
  • Fun birthday cake (no text)
  • Congrats on your day

Watercolor Birthday Gift Tags

These watercolor birthday gift tags are adorable!

I really pushed myself to design them. I’ve been learning how to use the Ipad pro, and one of the apps has these beautiful watercolor brushes, and they are so real!

I tried to make the text a little blurred, so it would blend nice and beautiful with the gift tags.

These are the phrases you’ll find in these gift tags:

  • Happy Birthday
  • Floral Elements (three different leaves that will look really chic on any present)
  • Made with love!
  • For you!
  • XOXO
  • Enjoy
  • From/To

Unicorn Birthday Gift Tags

This unicorn birthday gift tag set will melt your heart!

I was thinking these gift tags will look so charming on a present for your daughter or any little girl that loves unicorns.

But, can we agree that as adults, we also love unicorns!

These are the phrases you’ll find in these gift tags:

  • Happy Birthday
  • From/to
  • For you!
  • Made with love & unicorn magic
  • May all your wishes come true
  • Congrats on your day
  • XOXO
  • With Love

Birthday Gift Tags for Family Members

I made this set in four different styles. Two versions of black and white, pink and stripes of colors.

What makes this set of birthday gift tags extra special is that I added most family members.

For each family member, there are three different phrases.

  • To the best (family member) ever
  • Happy Birthday (family member)!
  • I love you (family member)!

You can find these gift tags for mom, dad, brother, sister, wife, husband, grandma, grandpa, son, daughter, auntie, uncle, granddaughter, grandson, niece, nephew, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law.

Modern Birthday Gift Tags

When I designed this set of birthday gift tags, I was thinking about style! These are a little bit similar to the first set I described in this article, but they are so modern.

They are only in black and white, and they will look astonishing if you print them with a laser printer and add foil to them.

These are the phrases you’ll find in these gift tags:

  • Enjoy
  • Birthday Cake (No phrase)
  • From/To
  • Made with love
  • Let’s celebrate
  • Balloons (No phrase)
  • XOXO
  • Happy Birthday
  • For you

Animals Set Birthday Gift Tags

This cute animal birthday gift tag set is beyond adorable!

This set is available in assorted colors and plain black and white, and it will be the icing on the cake if you want to wrap a present for someone that loves nature

These gift tags all say “Happy Birthday” but you’ll find these cute animal illustrations.

  • Racoon
  • Bear (two different illustrations)
  • Elephant
  • Bunny
  • Butterflies
  • Squirrel
  • Bird
  • Owl

Mermaid Birthday Gift Tags

Mermaids are so in style right now!

I don’t know the first person that doesn’t like mermaids. They are just beautiful, and the thought of them makes me want to go to the ocean.

This mermaid gift tag set is simple and beautiful. I imagine giving a present to a hopefully, a future daughter or niece, that loves the ocean, and all things mermaid.

Retro Style Birthday Gift Tags

The retro-style gift tags set is my favorite of all. I had so much fun designing them.

I don’t usually save gift tags when someone gives me a present, but I think if someone printed this for me, I would keep it forever.

The details and the colors are so “retro!”

You’ll find this set in three different colors. Bright retro colors, vintage color, and plain black and white for foil effects.

The phrases you’ll find in these gift tags are:

  • For you!
  • Happy Birthday
  • You Rock (with a super cute cassette illustration).
  • To/From
  • XOXO

Funny Birthday Gift Tags

These hilarious birthday gift tags were inspired by one set I made for Christmas Gift Tags.

However, I wanted a colorful funny birthday tag set because, why not? They are so silly and lighthearted.

I designed these tag ins three different styles. On the first set, you’ll find bright colors, the second one is teal and pink, and the last one is plain black and white.

These are the phrases you’ll find in these gift tags:

  • No Peeking!
  • I hope you like socks
  • Don’t get your hopes up
  • I know you needed new underwear
  • It’s a brand new iPad… Just Kidding
  • If you don’t like it, can I have it back?
  • Less is more… Right?
  • Everything you asked for is… Not here
  • Game Over

Add Foil Effect to your Gift Tags

I’ve been playing with foil for a while now, and when I first discovered this technique, I never thought I could make something so beautiful.

I have a full tutorial coming up soon because I am still testing everything, so I can give an answer to all of your questions.

But take a look at how beautiful these birthday gift tags look.

The central concept to obtain this effect is by printing ONLY the black and white gift tags on this article on a laser printer (you can print them at Office Depot if you don’t have a laser printer).

Once printed, you need to place a foil sheet (the pretty side facing up) and run through a hot laminator. You can use a regular and cheap laminator, just let it heat up for about 4 minutes, so it gets nice and hot.

You need to sandwich the gift tags in between parchment paper; otherwise, the laser ink can get damaged. Once sandwiched, you feed them through the laminator.

I love my Minc laminator because it comes with a protective pouch. I don’t see the best reviews, but I gotta tell you that I love mine. I would never recommend something I haven’t tried or tested.

Check out how I printed the gift tags on black and white cardstock. It looks beautiful.

I hope you enjoyed this article and got the birthday gift tags you needed! Believe it or not, designing them, taking photos, and writing this article, took me over 25 hours of work.
